izak's old birthday card

here is the reverse side of the card, i mentioned earlier. the idea was to graphically show where on the timeline we were. at the top end of the hopscotch there is not a representation of a tree moving in the wind, or four shallow sea creatures dancing around an anemone, but a waving hand of the winner exiting the overly emphasized problematic teen years.

izak is, if you ask me, very much like his father. there is ongoing discussion concerninghis physical features, of course, but here i refere above all to his ways, reactions, his temperament. so i passed on what my father gave me as the baptismal verse:

“don't let anyone make fun of you, just because you are young. set an example for other followers by what you say and do, as well as by your love, faith, and purity.“ (1 tim 4:12)

  1. thank you, želimir.

like what? my coming out, the prospective moves, my drawings, template, or...

why in english? well, we belong to a worldwide community. i, for instance, have a japanese relative, and two or three albanian friends. :)

but i will try to figure out a way to link explanations in other languages as well. stay close, you will see.

  2. and of course, Dutch friends, who have been trying to understand Slovene (and some Croatian) but have not quite got the hang of it yet. So hvala lepa for the English!

I like the reversed card a lot, it's unconventional and the kind of image one can't just look at, some thinking is required. So I thought about it, and I like it, but I do hope it does not mean that from 41 and onward everything goes backwards and downhill.

  3. thank you, zippora.

not all goes downhill - knowledge can increase, for example - but you will understand it more fully when i send the 41st birthday card to you. personally, i would not mind at all to live from 14 years of age on once again.

  4. Great idea and motif.

But hey, are you implying that after 19 one is over with "overemphasising problems" etc.? I know I was by far not over with my deep confusions at 20, and God bless those who are.

i can't help. after 19 one is no more a teenager. :) besides, it would be a weird hopscotch, wouldn't it?
